Almost eighteen months have passed since I started the Renewed Pilot. My initial idea was to author a small blog to bring family and friends into the experience of starting over at a new airline. Even before I went live, friends suggested I make it available to everyone. That’s what I did… and, it has been more fun and rewarding than I ever imagined.
The readership has increased significantly over the past few months. Thank you to everyone who enjoyed the material enough to share it on social media sites. I enjoy sharing my experiences and knowledge of the industry. If you keep reading, I’ll keep writing.
For the new readers, I wanted to compile a list of the most viewed posts since the beginning of the blog. Technically, Welcome to the Renewed Pilot has the most hits. But, that shouldn’t count… it was the first post! I assume most people start there before I completely lose their interest with subsequent material.
I also wanted to compile this “best of” list to draw in new readers. If you enjoy this list, please spread this post throughout your social media channels. I provide buttons for Twitter, Facebook, and Google+. I need your help to further increase the readership.
Here are the seven most viewed posts from the last eighteen months:
The life cycle of airline hotel contracts (August 8, 2011)
When a hotel decided not to renew our lodging contract, I realized there is a predictable cycle to crew accommodations. This post is a lighthearted (although, accurate) look at contracts between hotels and airlines.
What are you wearing? (December 6, 2010)
Our uniform is definitely different. In this post, I described our pilot uniform and made a few other observations about the rest of the industry’s clothing.
What’s the loud barking noise on the Airbus A320? (January 25, 2012)
Although written recently, this post jumped near the top of the list. Ever been in the back of an A320 and heard the loud dog bark? This post dove into the technical explanation behind the noise.
Begin Simulation (November 1, 2010)
After ten months of unemployment and weeks of ground school, it felt good to get back into the full motion simulator. This post described our first A320 simulator session in Miami.
You can’t make this stuff up… (April 4, 2011)
One of my favorite all-time stories. A captain, flight attendants and a tuxedo. Read it… you’ll like it.
What happened to layovers? (March 10, 2011)
The pilot lifestyle has changed drastically over the last decade. In this post, I compared the beginning of my career to the lifestyle we live today. It is still enjoyable, but…
A day in the life…(December 21, 2010)
Ever been woken up at 4:00am and been asked to immediately show up for work? This post chronicled a typical day “on reserve” at an airline. There’s no set schedule… just days ON and days OFF. Thank goodness it was only four months.
Again, if you enjoy reading this blog, please spread the word! As always, if you have any comments or questions, feel free to email or comment below. Thanks for reading!
